Frequently asked questions.

What is therapy?

Therapy is a process that helps build self-esteem, reduce anxiety, strengthen coping strategies, and learn positive new skills. Psychotherapy also helps clients deal with issues related to their mental health conditions which in turn affect the rest of their, and the people close to them, lives.

Do you take insurance?

Unfortunately, Mental Health Empowerment, LLC is not a provider of any insurance company. Many insurance providers do offer reimbursements for our services. Before you begin treatment, we suggest contacting your insurance provider to confirm the exact reimbursement amount you are eligible for. Additionally, it's common for clients to use their Medical Service Account or Flexible Spending Account to cover these expenses.

Essential Questions to Ask Your Insurance Provider:

- What is the reimbursement rate for an out-of-network provider?

- Is there a deductible, and how much is it?

- Is prior approval from my primary care provider necessary?

- How many therapy sessions are covered per year?

- Are reimbursements available for video conferencing services?

- What forms are required for reimbursement?

We have developed a "Cheat Sheet" to guide your discussions with your insurance:

Inform your insurance that you are consulting an "out-of-network therapist" and inquire about the reimbursement rate per session. For this, you'll need to provide a procedure code, a diagnostic code, the duration of each session, and the session's cost.

Duration of Therapy Sessions:

- Typically, sessions last 53 minutes.

Commonly Used Procedure Codes:

- 90837 for Individual Counseling

- 90847 for Family Counseling, including couples counseling

- 90853 for Group Therapy

Frequently Utilized Diagnostic Codes:

- Z63.0 for Problems in Relationship With Spouse or Partner (useful for couples counseling)

- F43.21 for Adjustment Disorder with Depressed Mood

- F43.22 for Adjustment Disorder with Anxiety

- F41.0 for Panic Disorder

- F41.1 for Generalized Anxiety Disorder

- F42 for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

- F43.10 for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder

- F91.3 for Oppositional Defiant Disorder

- F50.2 for Bulimia Nervosa

- F50.01 for Anorexia Nervosa

- F34.1 for Dysthymia

- F34.8 for Disruptive Mood Dysregulation

- F31.11 for Bipolar Disorder

- F52.21 for Erectile Disorder

- F52.31 for Orgasm Disorder

- F52.22 for Female Sexual Interest/Arousal Disorder

This information should help you understand the reimbursement process for out-of-network mental health services. If you require couples counseling, specifically mention code Z63.0, although not all insurers provide reimbursement for this service.

What are your session rates?

Sessions are 53 mins long and the rate is $185.
